This week fashion enthusiasts watched this year’s CFDA Awards, colloquially referred to as the “Oscars of Fashion,” in order to cheer on the appearances of their favorite celebrities, scope out the new designers and learn of the winners faster than their non-viewing friends.

It was inspiring to see the amount of diverse talent and star-power under one roof with veteran stylist Law Roach, golden-boy Raul Lopez of Laur and self-proclaimed team “Slaysian” all taking home well-deserved awards.

VS could spend countless hours writing about the details of the night, and the significance of the winners, but right now we have to talk about SKIMS. Taking home Amazon Fashion’s first Innovation Award, Kim Kardashian has proven, yet again, that she is an icon, a legend and very much the moment.

Launching in the summer of 2019, SKIMS has carved itself a home founded on body sculpting shapewear, plush lingerie and comfy lounge pieces, all under the brand aesthetic of minimalism, neutral tones and body positivity laid bare. The company look is unique and now universally recognizable with Kim K serving as the de facto face of the brand (although, many celebs and high-tier supermodels have graced SKIMS sites and feeds sporting the label). Sharing the iconic look, the message to potential customers is that Kim Kardashian’s everyday wear is SKIMS everyday wear, and as a result of her influence on what’s hot in today’s fashion world, SKIMS has held the reins and forever altered the trajectory of what we currently love to sport through her confidence in solid core design elements.

To showcase this – and celebrate the major SKIMS CFDA win, we have compiled a list of some of these tried-and-true elements. From Body-cons to nude color schemes, take a scroll through our favorite Kim K certified fashion trends below.

Curve Love
I think it’s safe to say that the viral SKIMS Soft Lounge Long Slip Dress has been the ultimate coveted garment of 2022. You see it everywhere – and I mean everywhere. My phone has become a portable advertisement solely for “that SKIMS dress,” and even I cannot say that I am upset about it. The tight thread,  body hugging, full-coverage material has left women drooling over the potential of seeing their figures at their absolute best and clothing brands are noticing. As a result, we now have a wave of all things body-con. As if we needed more incentive to hit the gym and perfect our hot girl walks.

Make It Maxi
Maxi skirts: they’re big and they’re back. I’ve said it before and I will say it again, I love when a trend revamps itself and comes back with a modified vengeance. Long, form-fitting, stretch-giving, bottom-of-the-ankle skirts that highlight your hips and skim-plify your legs have become treasured aspects of the Fall/Winter 2022 wardrobe and will likely dominate streetwear along with the long denim skirt as the weather continues to chill.

Fuzzy Cozies
I love a good cozy and thankfully so does SKIMS. After watching this season of The Kardashians on Hulu, I am desperate to further engross myself in comfy-core starting with a matching monochrome loungewear set. It may be a stretch to say that the popularity of cute loungewear began with SKIMS and Kim K, but it’s hard to deny that its longevity in mainstream fashion owes a significant amount to them.

The Color Palette
Try as I might, I cannot divorce the rich nude color palette in this year’s outfits from SKIMS. I just can’t. Did Kim Kardashian invent the color beige? No … no? Okay, no, but she has monopolized deep neutrals to the absolute fullest and has, no doubt, succeeded with flying colors. Brown across the spectrum, black and white tones fill the color options for SKIMS apparel cementing its soft and subdued style, allowing you the ability to complete all of your capsule wardrobe basics.
